Weekend Getaway *Lots of Pictures*

This past weekend we went up to Cascade with our good friends Perry and Val to stay in their family cabin. This is our third time to the cabin and we just have a blast everytime! The snow was beautiful the cabin was warm and the food was delicious! And its always so picturesque to wake up and look out the window and see deer meandering by. Lucy slept like a champ Friday night (and the adults stayed up way past their bedtimes). Saturday we woke up, lounged around, had a delicious breakfast, and then headed out to go sledding. I was a little concerned about Lucy enjoying the snow. When it dumped real good on us in November I tried to take her out and pull her around in a laundry basket and she was horrified! So needless to say, I had my doubts about our plans for playing in the snow. Luckily, she was a champ and loved it!She was a little nervous to sit in the toboggan on her own, but if I was sitting with her she smiled and said "wheee!" the whole time. So fun.

After we'd get down the hill (road) she would get up and start walking/running back up. I almost think she enjoyed that the most. She loved when we would pick up snow and throw it into the air.

So this is totally a self-portrait while Johnny was pulling us in the sled. I bust a gut every time I look at her face and Johnny thinks she looks like the Grinch.

We had such a great time! We love our friends and are glad they like us enough to spend a weekend stuck with us! Thanks guys!

Lately with Lucy. . .

Lately Lucy takes huge bites. Like half a banana.

Lately Lucy's hair has been so curly. What?

Lately I've learned that though Lucy may feel sick, shes still pretty happy...and cuddly.

Lately Lucy loves dessert. (and can get any of 4 grandparents to give her some.)

Lately Lucy's eyes have been looking even more blue (click on the picture to get the full affect.)

And last of all, lately Lucy has been looking much more like a little girl, and much less like a baby. She's growing up too fast!

All Hallow's Eve

Lucy's 1st Birthday

On Sunday, 10-10-10, Lucy turned 1! I can't believe I have a one year old! She is the sweetest little girl and we love her to pieces.

I really like the birthday sign I made. It was fun to do and looked really cute.

I decided a while back that I wanted to make Lucy a huge tutu for her birthday party. Sherstine knows how, so she showed me. It turned out awesome, and Lucy actually liked wearing it.


I think Lucy's favorite gift was from aunt Sherstine, this little cat piano. She has been playing with it non-stop and loves to "talk" in the microphone.

When we opened presents she didn't really care about it too much until she figured out there was something inside the wrapping paper. Then she was a little more interested.
Although another present high on the top ten was the quilt grandma Spjute made for Lucy. Well, maybe it was one of my favorites, but Lucy likes it too.

Of course she had her own little cake to devour. Suprisingly enough she didn't eat that much of it. Just mooshed around in the frosting a bit and tried feeding her cousins.
Grandpa Spjute took a bite of Lucy's cake and for a minute we thought she might cry. It was so funny.
Overall it was a fun birthday. Sadly though on Monday at her doc appointment we found out that Lucy has a double ear infection and a red throat (possible strep, still waiting for the test results). Shes a trooper though and has been in good spirits.
