Lately I've learned that though Lucy may feel sick, shes still pretty happy...and cuddly.

Lately Lucy loves dessert. (and can get any of 4 grandparents to give her some.)

And last of all, lately Lucy has been looking much more like a little girl, and much less like a baby. She's growing up too fast!

All Hallow's Eve

Lucy's 1st Birthday

On Sunday, 10-10-10, Lucy turned 1! I can't believe I have a one year old! She is the sweetest little girl and we love her to pieces.

I really like the birthday sign I made. It was fun to do and looked really cute.

I decided a while back that I wanted to make Lucy a huge tutu for her birthday party. Sherstine knows how, so she showed me. It turned out awesome, and Lucy actually liked wearing it.


I think Lucy's favorite gift was from aunt Sherstine, this little cat piano. She has been playing with it non-stop and loves to "talk" in the microphone.

When we opened presents she didn't really care about it too much until she figured out there was something inside the wrapping paper. Then she was a little more interested.
Although another present high on the top ten was the quilt grandma Spjute made for Lucy. Well, maybe it was one of my favorites, but Lucy likes it too.

Of course she had her own little cake to devour. Suprisingly enough she didn't eat that much of it. Just mooshed around in the frosting a bit and tried feeding her cousins.
Grandpa Spjute took a bite of Lucy's cake and for a minute we thought she might cry. It was so funny.
Overall it was a fun birthday. Sadly though on Monday at her doc appointment we found out that Lucy has a double ear infection and a red throat (possible strep, still waiting for the test results). Shes a trooper though and has been in good spirits.

HALLOWEEN IS COMING...

Long Day At Church

The moment you've all been waiting for...

Lucy is now a walking girl!! She has been taking steps for over a month, but last Thursday at my sister's house she just decided to take off and do it on her own. If she falls, she can get back up by herself (which you'll see in the video). More often than not, she is running rather than walking. This girl is such a hoot. I can't believe she is turning 1 in a few weeks. Love you Lucy goose!

A Sunday in Pictures

Lucy + Park = L-O-V-E

Lucy sure does love the park, and she hasn't even gone very many times, the poor girl. Our summer activity of choice has been swimming, which she also L-O-V-E-S. But one morning (of course it was morning, look at her hair!) I was feeling like getting our of the house and Zoot was happy to comply. She loved the swing SO MUCH. I would upload the video I took, but I'm too lazy. She just smiled the whole time with her little tongue a-waggin'.

Also, she's been teething this week and has been quite miserable. And getting 3-4 on top all at once ( I don't know the true count because she won't let me look), who can blame her? While her moaning and fevering were SO sad, it was quite nice to have her want nothing more than to snuggle. With her active life-style, snuggling is rare these days so it has been a bitter-sweet treat.

Life is good at the Waites. Right now excitement lies in the possibility of a new job for the Mr. We shall see.

Oh!
Might I mention that my little/big brother has been home for over a week and he is the greatest! Lucy took to him almost right off the bat.

Beans, beans, the magical fruit...

Monday (with the help of my wonderful mother-in-law) I canned 31 pints of delicious green beans straight from the garden. I LOVE these green beans! Heat 'em up, put some butter and salt and pepper on 'em and mmmmmmmm. When I was pregnant with Lucy I would have a pint for a snack. Consequently (or maybe not) Lucy LOVES them as well. Shes not picky though. She'll eat them hot, cold, plain, buttered, it doesn't matter. Its like candy to her. Since she doesn't need them heated up, they're great to throw in diaper bag when we're running around. Or, like yesterday, when we met Johnny for lunch. I just brought a tupperware of green beans and she was perfectly content.

...the more you eat the more you toot?
