To everything, turn, turn, turn

I'm one of those girls who changes her hair with the seasons. Come winter and fall, you'll find me with a chocolate-y brunette hue. But if you were to happen to pass me on the street say... late spring/early summer you'll find me with glistening blonde hi-lights (or "yellow" as my niece Liv would say) and usually a cropped do.

Well, the past couple of days/weeks-ish have been progressively warmer. You can tell just by looking at me:

YELLOW HAIR = SUMMER NEAR
(Ironically, photo booth didn't really pick up the true "yellowness" of my hair. But just look further down the blog at the derby post and you can see how dark my hair was.)

And did I mention that I LOVE having a hairstylist for a sister ? How else would my wallet and husband be able to handle the ever-changing coiff that is my hair?

So, Sherstine, thanks again for the new d0!

7 months, 2 teeth, and on the move!

Lucy is seriously the happiest little girl. Johnny and I joke all the time that if all our kids were as good as Lucy, we'd have 12.
This is her new favorite face to make. She does it all the time. Sometimes she just snarls up one side of her lip. Its hilarious.
There's a good shot of the teeth! Shes been so much happier since they poked through.
Lucy is ALWAYS on her tip-toes with her bum in the air. She rocks back and forth like this too.
Yesterday she almost pushed herself from her hands and knees back into the sitting position. This is her getting close. (I think her toes look funny.)
So, shes always up on her tip-toes, but lately she gets up there and then lifts up one leg and crosses it over the other one. And then just hangs out there, or rocks.
I think shes wondering why I am taking so many pictures of her.

And here is a pretty good shot of her scooting. She's been going backwards for quite some time, but just recently started going forward. She'll do anything to get the remote!

Regardless of this photo,

My husband is NOT a band geek.

1st Annual Mortensen Derby Party

My sister Sherstine and her husband Wayne lived in Kentucky for 4 years while Wayne made his way through dental school. They've been back for almost a year and have decided to bring a little Kentucky back with them to good old Boise, Idaho.
I'm always up for a party, especially one where you get to dress up! The whole Waite family got into it! Johnny is wearing my Grandpa Bernard's police hat and he fashioned a horse and jockey to the top. His craft skills continue to amaze me. I found Lucy a hat at the dollar store and derbied it up! As for mine, well I think there's a tie between whether my hat or my hair do was more awesome.

All the ladies in their glorious hats!
No animals were killed in the making of this hat.
Ooh la la!
I was this years winner for best Derby hat!! I get to keep the roses until next year's party. Lucky me!
Later that day Heidi went to her senior prom. She looked beautimus! This is my dad. Not her date.

Day at the park.

The weather has been so nice lately and I have been itching for the longest time to get outside with Lucy. Today we went to Ann Morrison Park with my sisters Sherstine and Erika and their kids. IT was so nice to be out in the sunshine!

Lucy and Emmy in their sun hats.
Em was super tired.
Sherstine and her kids in the freezing river.
Lucy was not happy when I stuck her toes in.
Lucy really loves being outside and I can't wait for it to get warmer so we can take her swimming!

6 months of Lucy!

Lucy turned 6 months old on Saturday the 10th. She went to the doctor today for her well check and shots.

Stats:
Weight: 18lbs!!
Height: 26.5 in.
Head: 17.5 cm

All in the 90%- BIG GIRL

Some things that Lucy does:
-Will not stay on her back for more than a few seconds. As soon as we lay her down she rolls right to her belly.Especially on her changing table after a bath. She tries to roll over and ends up wrapping herself around the bar. Luckily its there to keep her in!
-Scoots around in circles and can go backwards.
-Pushes up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth.
-Sticks her tongue out constantly.
-Loves the frozen teething ring (I can see two teeth getting ready to pop up on the bottom.)
-Will give high fives.
-Babbles and talks in her "alto" voice.
-Growls.
-Likes to suck and chew on her pointer finger.
-Eats crackers, goldfish, and other munchies and likes to suck on carrots and apples.
-Lately she prefers daddy when he's home.
-Recognizes strangers and is a little nervous around people she doesn't know.
-Loves to look at herself in mirrors and lick her reflection.

She is getting so busy and animated and I love it! I predict she will be crawling within the month. She tries so hard. She can pretty much get anywhere she wants to go by rolling or scooting around and around and backwards. Shes never been much of a crier, she just moans and complains until she gets what she needs.

Lucy is a happy and healthy little girl and we love her to pieces! I'm so glad I get to stay home with her, because I cannot get enough!

Working on teeth

And sticking her tongue out ALL DAY LONG.
