We like to party. We like. We like to party. (this may get a little long)

Johnny turned 30 this month. Did you hear that? 30. Its makin' me feel old and a little embarrassed that I still feel like a kid, even though I have two of them myself. Any who, we couldn't just do the same old shindig that we do every year and since Johnny is not easily surprised I decided to take on the task of throwing him a surprise birthday bash. It was great! With the help of a very sneeky friend (who was able to get Johnny away while we got ready (at my parents), and made sure "the package" was delivered at the right time, thanks Perry!), and the simple fact that the only day that would work was a whole 2 weeks before his birthday, he was definitely surprised.

We played Minute to Win It games, they were pretty fun, and quite hilarious.
"Face the cookie'
"Noodling Around"

Can't remember what this one is called. How about: "Get dizzy"

"Stack Attack"

I saved "Junk in the Trunk" for the birthday boy. Look how skinny that guy is, sheesh.

My friend Val made this awesome cake.

I made Johnny's shirt. the front says: Made in 1981 and the back says: Thirty never looked so good!
On Johnny's actual birthday, I made dinner for about 13 people and then we had ice cream cake and presents. I can't seem to find those pictures though. I could make a list of 30 things I love about Johnny. but the bottom line is that he is the BEST guy I know. He takes such good care of me and the girls and he never complains when I ask him to do something. Never.  I love him and am so glad I married him!

Eight days after Johnny's real birthday (Oct. 2) was Lucy's birthday (Oct.10) Grandma and grandpa Waite were going to be out of town for the party so we celebrated with them on the 3rd.
Watching the cupcakes get closer and closer.

Lucy LOVES her grandpa Waite. Hes pretty partial to her too.
Lucy and Liv at the family party (Oct 9)
We made a rainbow out of cupcakes. Lucy loved it.
Her first Barbie! She can hardly contain herself.

2 years old.

So, this is hilarious. After everyone left, I realized we never got a family picture, so we set the timer on the camera and tried to get one. Lucy was pretty beat at this point and didn't want anything to do with it. And look closely, Jenna's totally barfing. This is classic.
The next day (her actual birthday) we had a few friends and cousins come over for a little birthday play date. The kids each made their own little pizzas on Pillsbury biscuit dough and we had leftover cupcakes from the night before, the kids played and watched part of a movie. It was fun, and crazy.
The crew. Minus Ruby and Claire, they were still eating I think.
We came down and found Lucy like this: covered in tissue paper watching the movie. Hilarious.
Birthday girl and dad.

That night we went out to dinner just the four of us. Lucy's favorite part of course was getting her own cup.

Lucy was super excited to get a new cousin that she now shares a birthday with. Can't wait to meet little Virginia "Ginny" Waite.

WHEW! We are a little partied out. I think we may just skip my birthday coming up in 3 weeks... yeah right!

Happy Birthday Lucy!

Today Lucy turned 2! She is such a sweet girl and growing up so fast. Pictures and info to come from her parties. For now, just a little video of her last year with us. Can't believe how much shes changed.

(The first song is her favorite song from her favorite movie: Alice in Wonderland.)  Enjoy.

Happy 2 months Jenna!

Today Jenna is 2 months old ( I wrote this on my other blog on her actual 2 month mark, Sept 11), and as a gift to her parents she slept 9 hours last night! Nice. Jenna has really come alive these past few weeks. She is smiling lots and doing lots of baby talk. So cute. Just like her older sister, Jenna is a really mellow, good-natured baby, and we are loving every minute of her. She is chubbing out quite a bit (we'll see in two days what she weighs) and is pretty much grown out of all the newborn clothes. She loves to be outside and wants to be facing out so she can check out the world. When we cant get her calmed down we can always put her in the baby swing, she really likes that. She is getting less grunty. Up until now she has been a VERY grunty sleeper, and just kind of grunty in general. Made for some really sleepless nights for a while there. But she has gotten much better. She is getting acquainted with her piggy (the stuffed animal we got her that is the same brand as lucy's monkey) and we are hoping she loves him as much as Lucy loves monks. We'll probably call him "pigs". I like it. Just today Jenna discovered he fist and has been going to town, sucking and licking it. And then when she moves her arm she gets quite upset and it takes her a minute to find it again, sometimes I help her. She loves her binky, just like big sis. We love that she loves it, what a convenience. Every night without fail we'll get her to sleep, either rocking her or in her swing and then when we move her to her bed, she wakes within a few minutes wanting a little more cuddle time, silly girl. She really is good, I think I can count 2 maybe 3 times since she was born that she hasn't gone right back to sleep after eating during the night. Which is awesome. All in all we just love this little girl, and Lucy really loves her too. Every morning lucy says, where's Jenna? And we have to find her and give her a kiss. She fits perfectly into our little family. Love you Jenna!

Lucy

I realized that its been a while since I did any real writing about Lucy and what shes been up to. Lately everything has been Jenna and while I think that is appropriate I also know that Lucy has been up to quite a bit and I don't want to forget this phase of her life. Or miss the chance to brag about my firstborn.
Huge fan of raspberry jam.
Lucy is 22 months old and potty-trained.(HOORAY!) Almost. I can't claim that she fully potty-trained because she is in pull-ups at night. Just night, not nap time. Also, she still has an accident here or there, but for the most part, she tells us when she needs to go, with kind of an urgent whisper of "potty! potty!", even when swimming and cheers for herself just about every time. I'm so proud. (and relieved. 2 kids in diapers? no thank you!)
She LOVES her "baby Jenna", which is how she refers to her 99% of the time. And if people say "Do you love your little sister?" She says "her names baby Jenna." She must kiss her whenever she sees her and is very sweet and kind. If ever we say "lets get ready to go to ___" She says "and baby Jenna come?" She doesn't hit her or hurt her ever. She only tried to pick her up once, but I was right there to put the kabosh on that. All in all, the transition was s-m-o-o-t-h.
Lucy is a bright little girl. She knows her ABC's, song and all, and can recognize 10 letters that I've counted. She can spell her name, and thinks she can write it. She'll scribble and say "L-U-C-Y". So cute. She counts to 15 (somtimes all the way to 20, but she hasn't mastered 16-17-18-19 yet). Shes mastered her colors. She knows her basic shapes and can pick them out easily. She can even tell rectangle from square and oval from circle. Theres an ipad game that helped her learn that. She sings along to a cd I burned that has Sara Barellis "love song" and knows alot of the words. Its so funny. She can sing a handful of primary songs beginning to end including "I love to see the temple" and "I am a child of God". She loves "her class"(nursery) at church and is starting to make friends. She has also recently mastered taking 1 piece of bread during sacrament, instead of 1 handful. She loves to be read to and now sits through entire books, looking at the pictures and listening. I also find her back by her book shelf "reading" books to herself.
I just love her curls.
She loves her cousins/aunts/uncles/grandparents. We are so lucky to live by our family where we can spend lots of time together. When they were all (the spjutes) gone to the Coast this year, we were driving and she said "I love Emmy mom." And then proceeded to name off EVERY SINGLE member of our family that was gone including "uncle Waynebo" and proclaimed her love for them. Her cousins are her best friends and her grandparents can do no wrong. She has an extra special place in her heart for her grandpas (what is it about grandpas and there grand-daughters?), but loves her grandmas to pieces too. We love our family!

Lucy is becoming quite the dancer. It is especially hilarious when you tell her to shake her bum. She gets kind of low and uses her hips to their full potential. She also has some amazing "Irish kicks" that she learned how to do from Sesame Street.  I love dancing with her because she tries to mimic whatever I'm doing, and its really entertaining.

Some of the funny things she says or has said:
Thats amazing mom.
Yes dear.
Your welcome so much.
I love it! (when we say we're going somewhere)
I'm so sited (excited)
I'm so naked. (after baths)
Lemme try.

I love my Lucy so much. The first couple weeks after having Jenna I was really sad that I had lost my all day one-on-one time with her, (I think it was partially crazy hormones). I still do my best to find lots of time for Lucy. Just today we played with her princesses and danced in the playroom. Sometimes I still miss when it was just us two, but that doesn't mean I'm not completely smitten with Jenna. I mean look at her?
Jenna-6 weeks
I'm sad to see Lucy growing up so fast, but I am loving this stage. She is a little person with her own
opinions and ideas. What should we have for dinner? "sgettabetti". Hee hee. Anyway, this post was mostly for my journaling because I know before I know it she'll be a teenager and driving me bananas. But for now, shes my perfect little girl who will always have a special place in my heart. Shes the one who made me a mother.

Brand new Lucy.

Question:

How do you get your almost two year old to STOP drinking the bath water?
(Sucking washcloths, drinking out of the watering can, licking her fingers...etc.)
Because lets be honest, threatening to take away bath time isn't really an option.
