The reason for Easter.

I will do a post of egg hunts and yummy dinners later, but today I thought I would post this video of my amazing husband singing about the Savior. I am grateful for the atonement and the opportunity to be with my family forever!

I've got the bug.

The sewing bug that is! This was my first time using a pattern. my mother-in-law (who like my own mother) is a sewing extraordinaire decided she wanted me to learn how to use a pattern. She helped me step-by-step through the whole thing, but did ALL the sewing/stitching/pinning myself. I am so proud. Once again, Lucy approves, I know because after I put it on her she ran around the house yelling "dress!". With another little girl on the way I'm sure this is the first of many cute little dresses I will be making. Its so fun!

Did I mention that I all of the sudden became HUGE this last month? July can't come soon enough!

Seriously??

Just when I think this kid couldn't get any easier, she transitions from crib to big girl bed at 18 months, without a problem. Yeah! (Its also a whole new room) We just thought we'd try it out because she loved being in this room while we were painting it (more pictures of that to come), and might I mention that this is no little toddler bed, this is actually the bed Johnny slept on until he moved out of his parents house (we did put a rail up though). Last Saturday we decided to give it a go and with monks and binky in tow she waved ni-night and since then, its been cake. Ok, so last night she fell out of bed in the middle of the night, I heard her crying and went in and she was still asleep on the floor, I picked her up and put her back in bed and didn't hear a peep until morning. This girl amazes me. I am keeping my fingers crossed that girl number two will be as laid back and easy. Seriously. Shes awesome. (Never mind the fact that she pooped in the tub tonight. No ones perfect.)
First night in the big girl bed.

Sew, a needle pulling thread!

So, a few weeks ago one of my best friends Val told me she was making dresses for her girls and asked if I wanted to make one for Lucy. Now mind you, I have pretty much never sewed before this (besides a pillowcase) and had only used my sewing machine that my mom got me for Christmas a few years ago that one time to make said pillow case. I made sure Val knew that she would be playing teacher and she easily agreed. I got really excited and had a good time at JoAnn's picking out fabric.
The raw materials.
Val was a great teacher. She pretty much made this pattern up and then helped me step-by-step through the whole thing (while she took care of her two girls and sewed her own dress. shes awesome.)  There were only a few "duh" moments for me and a mere five hours later. . .

The finished project!
The cute back. I really like the criss-cross.

Thanks again to Val for helping me with my first project! I was so excited to get home and try it on Lucy and really pleased with how it looked on her. (Mind you don't look too closely.) Lucy made me feel good too because she kept pulling it up and saying "dress" and looking real pleased. I think I've found a new hobby and I am now doubly excited to have double the girls to sew for come July.  Wahoo! Now I want to make a quilt for Lucy's soon-to-be toddler bed. (Yipes.)

p.s. This dress probably cost me $6. AWESOME.

Life is good.

I LOVE being this little girls mom. Seriously she is hilarious! One day I'll make a list of all the hilarious stuff she says/does. For now, just look at this cheeser below.
 Bring on girl #2!!!

RANDOM

I have been feeling like I should post something on my blog, but haven't felt like there was anything very interesting to write about. So instead you will get a very random post with a smattering of pictures from the last couple of weeks. I'll even throw in a video, which I KNOW you'll like.
Last weekend I had Ella (the girl I nannied for 3 years) and my niece Liv over for a sleep-over. Lucy had a blast following the girls around.Lucy and Emmy getting one of grandpa Spjute's famous blanket rides.
We went to the park the first day the sun shone and had fun swinging and chasing ducks. I think Ems is eating a piece of bread from the ground.

What's new with us?
Johnny has been out of works for 2 weeks now. He will be employed again for sure begining of May (dumb break he has to take in his contract. i don't get it). Hes been working really hard to find something in the mean time, but its tough out there. We're getting by for now and praying our tax return comes soon! We have really enjoyed having extra time with him and Lucy has become really attached to him. Johnny and I celebrated Valentine's day on Friday and went to GOOD Wood. And oh, it was good.
I am 18 weeks pregnant. The only really exciting thing about that is that we find out the gender a week from tomorrow! (Vote on sidebar) I have no idea what it is. With Lucy I was fairly sure it was a girl, mostly because I really wanted a girl, so I guess I just hoped it was. This time I could take either. Two little girls would be fun (and cheep, clothes-wise) but a little boy would be new and exciting too. I can't wait to find out. We are pretty set on our boy name, but totally up in the air if its a girl. This baby is causing us to miss family vacay though and we're pretty bummed that Lucy won't see the ocean this summer and that we won't be able to hang out with our Utah family that we don't see as much. Have fun guys!
Lucy is growing up too fast. Shes 16 months old. It seems like in this last month alone she has changed a ton. She can pretty much say any word if you ask her to repeat it. She walks up and down stairs with ease. She feeds herself like a champ. Best of all she is starting to tell me when she has a poopy diaper, that can only be headed in a good direction! She folds her arms for prayers and says amen. She loves to play with her cousins and literally screams when she sees them. Yesterday she went to nursery for 20 min. and did great! 2 years ago today I told Johnny I was pregnant. Time flies!

This video really needs no intro, but the reason everyone is cracking up at the beginning is because Johnny tried to climb on face down at first.

Oh yeah, Happy Valentine's Day!
